$25 Christmas Tree, Cut Your Own

Christmas tree time!! No Charlie Brown tree here!

Honey ready to hit the open road with this year's Christmas tree.
Me, James and Honey made our annual trek over the mountains and through the woods to Skunk's Misery Tree farm in upstate NY.  We have been doing this ever since we stumbled upon it while looking for a cut your own tree farm a few years ago. We had given up, and decided to turn around when we fatefully turned down a side street in the middle of the country. We have been going there ever since. The tree selection can be rustic (no Douglas firs here!) but we have always found a winner and for $25 you just can't beat it. Most of the time they have someone there trimming the trees but sometimes they have a Folgers's can and go by the honor system, which I actually really appreciate. I like it when people have faith that others will do the right thing.

All of my Christmas tree lights from last year have half or all of the bulbs out, so I needed new ones. Luckily, my mom had a bunch from when she used to get a real tree and was more than happy to pass them on to me. Better than throwing them away! Although I prefer a real tree, her little pre-lit tree looked great set up in the living room. Last year my aunt decided to do the same thing and she gave me ALL of her ornaments. Some of them even said "Merry Christmas Mom." Ha! I did not put those up. Lol.

All and all the tree was a group effort and really turned out beautiful. I did buy a Precious Moments cat ornament that reminded me of Digit on sale at Ollie's for about $2.00!

I still have not found the Angel that sits at the top of the tree but hopefully this weekend I can dig it out of storage.

Merry Christmas! Remember to enjoy the holiday season and don't sweat the small stuff.
